The Music Industry Just Changed Forever – And It’s Not What You Think!
Whether you are a fan of Billie Eilish’s music or not, she just proved to the world something that no one else has done…
I think Billie explains it best herself:
We made this album in a bedroom in our house that we grew up in, and it was mastered in somebody’s living room. So it’s really, anything is possible.

For the first time EVER, music recorded and produced in a bedroom swept the top 4 biggest categories during the Grammys with a total of 10 combined Grammys in 7 categories for her album “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go“ including:
►Best Pop Vocal Album
►Album of the Year
►Song of the Year
►Record of the Year
►Best New Artist
►Producer of the Year
►Best Engineered Album <—(IN A BEDROOM STUDIO!)
Think about this for a moment. Technology has finally come to the point where we as creators can produce award-winning and globally recognized music in our bedrooms instead of in a million dollar studio. The barriers to entry have virtually disappeared, and music gatekeepers are dropping like flies as artists discover this for themselves.
Check out this 5-minute clip of the bedroom studio Billie Eilish recorded her Grammy sweeping album.
In the history of the music industry, this has never existed before. And it will only become more common as others now see it is possible to do so. Hopefully, you feel as inspired by Billie and Finneas’ story as a creator as I do about their incredible accomplishment. It’s one of those rare moments where the awards presented have far greater implications than to simply reward the hard work and creativity of Billie and her brother/producer Finneas.
Yet another bedroom studio, right here at Raytown Productions! I’ve been producing music in my at-home studio for the last 15 years.
Can’t wait to see where Billie, Finneas, and other independent bedroom producers take their music next. For the first time in the music industry, the gate keepers are gone and we are free to make authentic music that is true to ourselves.
Cheers!
